The Rio Open is heating up with Carlos Alcaraz showing few signs of slowing down in just his second tournament since October after returning from injury.

The World No.2 is back on the war path with a relatively clear path to the title in Brazil, though No.2 seed Cam Norrie remains on track to set up a fascinating final between the pair.

It’s a depleted field in Rio this week as players prepare for the Dubai Championships coming up, though a bunch of chasing-pack stars have featured in the tournament.

Lorenzo Musetti, Francisco Cerundolo and Diego Schwartzman were all dumped out in the first two rounds, while Dominic Thiem – still recovering from a long-term absence – was dispatched by Thiago Monteiro.

The depleted field should not dampen expectations for an exciting tournament with plenty to play for among the chasing pack aiming to crack the seeded positions ahead of the majors.
