England’s campaign for the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand is now officially underway and the Lionesses already have a win under their belt.

The team took on Haiti in the first round, and while it might not have been as easy a matchup for England as many would have thought, the Lionesses still walked away with a 1-0 victory.

England’s match came on the third day of the tournament, which is the first World Cup ever to be held in Oceania. It is also the first time the women’s tournament has joint hosts, while an expanded format means 32 teams are involved, as opposed to 24 in 2019.

Of course the Lionesses’ will be hoping to go all the way in this year’s tournament, after their triumph at the Euros in 2022. England will be riding that wave of positivity and support into the World Cup, but can expect some stiff competition from a number of teams, including favourites the USA.

Sarina Wiegman’s side will be hoping to overcome that and end their long wait for World Cup success, but can they do so?

With the tournament running from Thursday 20th July until the final on Sunday 20th August, here’s a run-down of all of England’s fixtures, including when you can expect to see their next match.

When do the Lionesses play next?

England’s next match in their 2023 Women’s World Cup campaign will see them go up against Denmark on Friday 28th July at 9:30am UK time (6:30pm local time).

The venue will be Sydney Football Stadium, with a capacity of 42,500. The Lionesses will be expected to win Group D, but their match against Denmark is expected to be a more difficult match-up then their previous fixture against Haiti.

While Haiti are ranked 53rd in the FIFA Rankings – the third-lowest ranked team in the tournament, Denmark are ranked 13th, making them a trickier opponent.
