It’s a minor detail but eagle-eyed fans of the historical epic have already been calling it out.

Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer has been met with rave reviews from fans and critics alike, who have praised the performances of the cast, cinematography, soundtrack and historical detail.

Nolan is of course known for his keen eye for detail in mind-bending thrillers such as Inception and Tenet. However, it appears fans have already spotted one slight error in the new movie.

In a scene set in 1945, Cillian Murphy’s J. Robert Oppenheimer is surrounded by a crowd waving hand-held American flags.

The problem is that the flag is the current version, featuring 50 stars to represent the 50 states. In 1945, the USA was made up of 48 states, without Alaska and Hawaii, and a 48-star flag was used until 1959, many years after the scene is set.

It was good and all, but I’ll be that guy and complain they used 50-star flags in a scene set in 1945. pic.twitter.com/nvcwpGFkzh
