There are twelve classes in Baldur’s Gate 3, and each of these has a number of sub-classes – for newcomers to the series, or Dungeons & Dragons in general, it can all be a bit overwhelming.

So to help you make heads and tails of it, we have all the Baldur’s Gate 3 classes and will answer, ‘What’s the best class and sub-class?’

Some classes have more sub-classes than others – such as the Wizard, who has eight sub-classes to choose from, as opposed to the Barbarian, who only has three, allowing for greater specialisation and a play style that really suits you best.

This can lead to a degree of inflexibility so be sure to study each carefully so you can make the best build.

If you do decide that something is for you, you can respec your character and any party member. With all that said, read on to find out a little about each class, their sub-classes and what each of these means for you.

What’s the best class in Baldur’s Gate 3?

The best class in Baldur’s Gate 3 is the Cleric class, as they can do large amounts of damage while being able to do critical tasks such as healing.

This combination of both makes them arguably the most useful class, and you will seriously feel it if you don’t have one in your party.

You don’t necessarily have to play as a Cleric, though, and can instead leave those duties to a companion such as Shadowheart.

Ultimately, however, the true best class is the one that you like to play as most. We have been having great fun stalking the shadows and unlocking doors and chests as a Rogue Thief, for example.
