The undefeated, self-styled Gypsy King still boasts near-unrivalled prowess in the ring, but he has fought just twice since wrapping up a trilogy fight against Deontay Wilder in 2021.
Hopes of an all-Brit mega fight, Fury versus Anthony Joshua, at the peak of their powers, appear to have faded, while a cancelled undisputed bout against Oleksandr Usyk has virtually paralysed the heavyweight division.
The flamboyant superstar continues to ruffle feathers via social media, stoking the flames with anyone and everyone, and has now agreed his next fight – but it hasn’t gone down well with the boxing community.

When is Tyson Fury’s next fight?
Tyson Fury’s next fight is against Francis Ngannou on Saturday 28th October 2023.
Former UFC star Ngannou initially trained to become a professional boxer at the start of his career, but he ended up following the MMA path to become UFC Heavyweight Champion.
The 36-year-old left UFC in 2023 and looks set to pursue boxing in the autumn of his career.
Fury and Ngannou will fight in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with a mega purse up for grabs.
The move has frustrated heavyweight boxing fans keen to see Fury go to war with Usyk in an undisputed firecracker showdown.
Instead, the Gypsy King’s clash against a heavyweight boxing debutant, for all his MMA heroics, feels underwhelming to many.
Why did Tyson Fury not fight Oleksandr Usyk?
Fury is the current WBC heavyweight champion and is the only man standing in the way of WBA (Super), IBF, WBO and IBO champion Usyk becoming the undisputed heavyweight king of the world. Or vice versa.
A blockbuster fight was agreed between the pair but talks broke down and the bout was cancelled in March 2023.
Of course, both sides have attempted to save face in the fallout, and Usyk’s promoter Alexander Krassyuk claimed: “I did act in the courtesy of boxing when I accepted 70/30 [purse split] but I accepted it with a condition that Tyson had to donate £1 million to the people of Ukraine immediately after the fight.
“Tyson seemed to only hear the first part of this message and didn’t like, want or hear the second. There were a bunch of issues that collectively put the criticalness which finally exploded and we had to pull the plug.”
Fury, in typical style, fought back on social media, saying: “You tried all week to get out of it, begging for a rematch. You got your rematch and didn’t even want to fight at that. You little 14-stone coward. Your full team know it as well.
“Keep running. Fight [Daniel] Dubois at the Copperbox. Always know that you, and everyone else like you, could never tangle with The Gypsy King.”
