As for the Toon, things don’t get much easier for Eddie Howe’s side after they were beaten 1-0 away at Man City. They’ll relish being back at St James’ Park, though, and will recognise that the visitors do have fragilities that they can exploit.
A first win against the Reds in eight years would be the perfect way to bounce back and send a statement of intent to the rest of the Premier League.
