Bake Off continued tonight with the usual mistakes and top bakes – this time on a Wednesday, as the England vs Italy UEFA Euro 2024 qualifier aired in the show’s usual spot last night.

For this week’s Bake Off theme, the contestants tackled Chocolate Week, and it was definitely sweet for one baker in particular.

As Tasha was sent home due to being unwell, no one was kicked out this week, but there was a Star Baker, as Noel Fielding revealed the good news at the end of the episode.

So, who won Star Baker this week?

Read on for everything you need to know about The Great British Bake Off Star Bakers for season 14.

Star Baker was won by Matty this time out.

For this week’s Signature, the contestants were tasked with making chocolate tortes without wheat flour, followed by a caramelised white chocolate cheese cake for the Technical and a chocolate box cake for the Showstopper.

For his Showstopper, Matty, 28, pulled out all the stops with a chocolate genoise sponge complete with a chocolate creme mousseline and raspberry coulis.

“The raspberries [are] delicious and the texture is spot on,” Paul Hollywood said.

“To put raw raspberries in often will make it too wet, and you’ve done it very well! Well done.”

Matty hails from Cambridgeshire and works as PE and science teacher.

He started to bake after being impressed by a cake his grandma made him for his fourth birthday, and is now the designated cake maker in his family.

After taking part in the show, Matty plans on tackling his biggest baking challenge to date – making his own wedding cake, a special commission from his fiancée, Lara.

Tasha won Star Baker for a second week in a row after impressing in Bread Week.

The contestants started with a classic cottage loaf in the Signature, and then the bakers headed to Devon for the Technical with a split bun including jam and cream. Finally, the bakers got themselves in a twist with a plaited bread centrepiece for the Showstopper.

Tasha well and truly won the judges over with Paul saying that she “really knows bread”.

Tasha won Star Baker in Week 2, impressing the judges with her stunning Showstopper meal.

Tasha is a 27-year-old participation officer from Bristol.

She makes history as the show’s first ever deaf contestant. It was recently revealed that the Bake Off stars learned sign language to communicate better with her.

Much like her attitude to life, Tasha’s baking is fearless. She uses it as a way to express herself creatively and often embarks on near-impossible designs – with impressive results!

Dan, 42, was announced as the first Star Baker for season 14 after coming first in the Technical and wowing with his Showstopper.

The aspiring baker hails from Cheshire and works as a civil engineering resource planner.

His interest in cooking began when he went travelling in South America in 2007. His particular loves are pies and puddings.

Before he and his wife bought their first home, they lived with his in-laws. During this time, his mother-in-law taught him how to make perfect shortcrust pastry. Subsequently, his passion for pies has evolved into a penchant for patisserie!

Great British Bake Off continues on Channel 4 at 8pm on Tuesdays.
