Following the news that Amanda Abbington has left this year’s Strictly Come Dancing competition, judge Anton Du Beke has suggested that, had she stayed in, the actress could have made it “all the way to the final”.

Du Beke was speaking with Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary on This Morning, when they touched on Abbington’s departure.

The Strictly judge said: “That’s terribly sad because she was terrific. Could have made it all the way to the final, I thought she was very, very strong.”

When Hammond suggested Abbington could perhaps come back to the show for another year’s competition, Du Beke agreed that “maybe she could come back”.
