Is this the end of the cube?
Insomniac Games has been hard at work on making Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 the best game it can be on PS5, and the latest Spider-Man 2 update – version 1.001.004 – is now live and brings with it a handful of bug fixes.
While our five-star review tells you the game is “the best reason to buy a PS5”, the title didn’t come away unscathed – with pesky little bugs and one particularly embarrassing mistake rearing their heads.

The development team has been listening, though, and the latest patch is another step in the right direction for the super sequel.
You’ll find the full list of Spider-Man 2 update patch notes below – here’s what has changed in version 1.001.004.
What changed in Spider-Man 2 Update?
While it’s not the biggest update you’ll ever see, Spider-Man 2 version 1.001.004 brings with it a selection of bug fixes that should improve the game in a number of ways.
One such fix should stop you from getting stuck during the finale of Marko’s Memories. There are four fixes in total for instances where Spider-Man or another character could previously get stuck in a certain situation.
Another fix detailed by the developers might have resolved the Spider-Cube issue.
Insomniac has “further addressed issues where models would not load properly after long play sessions”. Could it really be the end of swinging around New York as a white cube? We’ll have to wait and see.

- Addressed an issue where players could become stuck during the finale of Marko’s Memories
- Addressed an issue where a boss could become stuck in geometry
- Addressed multiple issues where the player could become stuck during the Galvanize tutorial
- Addressed an issue where players with shortcuts enabled could become stuck in a puzzle during the New Threads mission
- Addressed an issue where the Charge Jump would break when assigned to a shortcut
- Addressed an issue where the Upgraded Classic suit had duplicate eye details
- Further addressed issues where models would not load properly after long play sessions
- Improved stability
