Northern Ireland conclude their disappointing Euro 2024 qualifying campaign by welcoming Denmark to Windsor Park on Monday evening.

Michael O’Neill’s side will finish a long way off the automatic qualification spots and their poor performance in last season’s Nations League means they won’t be taking part in next year’s play-offs either.

Part of their underperformance can be attributed to Stuart Dallas, Steven Davis and Corry Evans missing the bulk of this qualifying process through injury. The experienced trio remain unavailable so O’Neill once again relies on a youthful squad as he builds towards future competitions.

Denmark were dealt a blow in the lead up to this critical international break when Manchester United pair Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Højlund, who has fired a group-leading seven goals in qualifying, were forced to pull out due to injury problems.

The Danes narrowly got the better of Northern Ireland when the two teams met in the reverse fixture in Copenhagen earlier this year. Jonas Wind scored for the hosts before West Ham striker Callum Marshall was denied a late leveller by VAR on his senior international debut.
