Buoyed by last weekend’s derby win at Old Trafford, Manchester City are back at the Academy Stadium on Sunday to host Tottenham Hotspur.

Coming from behind to beat Manchester United 3-1 was just what Gareth Taylor’s side needed after a few disappointing results in the Women’s Super League, and the win has allowed them to leapfrog their local rivals into third place.

They’ll know that three more points will be needed to keep pace with the top two, Chelsea and Arsenal, ahead of the international break – but that won’t be easy, as Spurs have started strongly under new boss Robert Vilahamn.

The North Londoners are unbeaten in the WSL since their opening-day defeat to Chelsea – with three wins and three draws helping them rise to a point behind Man City, in fifth.

The hosts will still fancy their chances of coming away with the victory, though, and are backed by the bookies to do so – not least because Spurs have lacked killer instinct in recent weeks, having drawn three on the bounce in the league.
