The release date for Jurassic World: Dominion in 2022 is still several months away.

However, for those who can’t wait, the makers of Jurassic World: Dominion have shared a five-minute prologue offering the beginning of a story that will be continued in cinemas next year.

The prologue was previously exclusive to IMAX, paired with screenings of Fast & Furious 9, but has now released online – and you can watch it for yourself further down the page.

It shows a load of dinosaur action 65 million year ago, even giving fans a glimpse of the mosquito used to clone dinosaurs in the franchise’s original film.

“Ever since I was a kid, I have wanted to see dinosaurs in their natural habitat,” director Colin Trevorrow said.

“It may have taken a few decades, but with a little help from ILM, Universal and Amblin, it has finally happened. This preview is just a glimpse of the film we’ve made. It’s an epic celebration of everything Steven Spielberg and Michael Crichton created, and I can’t wait to share it with the world next summer.”

Plot details for the third instalment of the franchise are yet to be confirmed, but it is set to unfold after the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom – and after its shocking ending.

Long-time fans will be thrilled to hear that the film will see Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum reprise their roles from the original Jurassic Park films, while Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will also return.

Neill, who is reprising his role as Dr. Alan Grant for the first time since Jurassic Park III in 2001, has teased that “Jurassic World: Dominion is going be a big film”.

“[Director] Colin Trevorrow has that childlike sense of wonder, playfulness and inventiveness that [Steven] Spielberg has,” he told Variety. “We really shot a six-hour movie. We were all very gung-ho.”

He added: “Hopefully, there’ll be thousands of massive cinemas ready for it because it’s a big film for big audiences.”
