Film and television heavyweights lend their talents to the Alone in the Dark reboot.
Over 30 years later, Alone in the Dark is back. It’s been brought into the modern world as a remake/reimagining, with the classic characters from the 1992 original portrayed by some very familiar faces indeed.
The Alone in the Dark cast is full of famous faces from the worlds of TV, film and games – headlined by none other than Jodie Comer and David Harbour, who you might just know from Killing Eve and Stranger Things, respectively.
To believably portray the protagonists Emily Hartwood and Edward Carnby, Alone in the Dark writer and director Mikael Hedberg (Amnesia: The Dark Descent, SOMA) explained: “We knew early on that we had a character-driven story, so we needed to find some really good actors to make those characters come to life.”

Director and writer for the Alone in the Dark remake Mikael Hedberg knew that the character of Emily would be going through the emotional wringer, and needed to find the right actor to really hit this home.
Hedberg reasoned Comer would be the top choice, saying: “Jodie is a fantastic actress and she brings a lot of nuance to Emily as a character and it really makes us sympathise with her.”
In true noir fashion, Carnby is a hard-boiled and wisecracking detective, but finds himself succumbing to the dark power that lurks in Derceto.
Hedberg knew Harbour would be the perfect fit, saying: “David has a really strong presence as an actor, and he’s able to make the funny moments really funny, but also the dramatic parts really intense.”
Where do you know the Alone in the Dark cast from?
With such recognisable talent filling the major roles in this new Alone in the Dark remake/reboot, you’ll be wondering where you know the cast from. Wonder no more.
Jodie Comer plays Emily Hartwood, a main character from the original and now a playable protagonist.
You’ll recognise Comer from her appearances as Villanelle in the BAFTA and Emmy-winning Killing Eve, Marguerite de Carrouges in The Last Duel (by Ridley Scott) and Chloe in My Mad Fat Diary (on E4) to name just a few.
David Harbour, meanwhile, plays private detective and second playable character Edward Carnby in Alone in the Dark.
You’ll, of course, know Harbour as Sheriff Jim Hopper from Stranger Things, the Red Guardian in Black Widow, and as the title role in Neil Marshall’s 2019 Hellboy.
Harbour also played a number of supporting roles prior to his global recognition, in films such as War of the Worlds and Quantum of Solace.
Paul Mercier, who plays Jeremy Hartwood and Pregzt in Alone in the Dark, is known for his voice work as Leon S Kennedy in the original Resident Evil 4.
Glory Joy Rose, meanwhile, who plays Grace in this game, is best known for appearing in This Is Us and Danger Force.
Moving onto Bruce Nozick, who plays Dr Gray and Mosely the Goon in Alone in the Dark, you may recognise him from Weeds, in which he played Whit Tillerman across 14 episodes.
Susanne Blakeslee, who voices Mrs Thompson in the game, is best known for being the voice of Wanda in The Fairly OddParents. Roger Jackson, meanwhile, is known as The Voice or the Phone Voice from the Scream films. You may recognise Kaitlyn Robrock as the longtime voice actress of Minnie Mouse.
Finally, Yuri Lowenthal, who plays Mr Waites and Jacob Van Ostadte as part of the Alone in the Dark cast, is most well-known for being the voice of Spider-Man in the new PS4 and PS5 games.
