Danish political drama Borgen is returning for a fourth season set to premiere in 2022, almost 10 years since the previous instalment aired.

In January 2021, it was announced that Sidse Babett Knudsen (Westworld) will reprise her iconic role as Birgitte Nyborg, who became the first female Prime Minister of Denmark in the fictionalised version of the country.

Netflix helped to revive the series and worked alongside DR, the Danish Broadcasting Corporation.

The fourth season, titled Borgen: Power and Glory, will see Birgitte in her role as Minister of Foreign Affairs and facing an all-new crisis.

Borgen season 4 release date

Borgen: Power and Glory will be released on Netflix worldwide on Thursday 2nd June 2022 at 8am GMT.

The series premiered earlier this year in Denmark on DR.

Filming began on January 11th 2021 in Copenhagen – a fan account for Sidse Babett Knudsen announced the news on Twitter.
