We might be waiting a bit longer to board the USG Ishimura once more after a brief delay – but some new gameplay features ensure the Dead Space remake will be worth the wait.

A gameplay trailer has highlighted some of the new features coming to the 14-year-old game, including voice acting, an Intensity Director that dynamically adjusts the environment and the promise of no loading screens whatsoever.

This being Dead Space, however, a remake also means we’ll get to experience the Necromorphs with next-gen technology – including a brand new ‘Peeling System’ that controls how body parts break…

Here’s everything you need to know about the Dead Space remake from Star Wars: Squadrons developer EA Motive, including release date, pre-order and that long-awaited gameplay trailer.

Dead Space remake release date

The Dead Space remake release date is Friday 27th January, the developers have confirmed.

You can pre-order your copy now from GAME.

So, the game will be with us early next year, giving us something to look forward to after Christmas. We’ve got all the core details below.

Which consoles and platforms can play the Dead Space remake?

EA has confirmed that the Dead Space remake will be available on  PS5, Xbox Series X and PC.

It is envisioned as a purely next-gen game, so you shouldn’t expect to see it on PS4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch – if you really want to play it handheld, it’ll be interesting to see if Valve’s Steam Deck can run it.

Dead Space remake story

The debate as to whether the new Dead Space game is a sequel or remake is over, and we now know it is a ground-up rebuild of the original game.

The official synopsis reads like so: “Isaac Clarke is an everyman engineer on a mission to repair a vast, sprawling starship, the USG Ishimura, only to discover something has gone horribly wrong. The ship’s crew has been slaughtered and infected by some alien scourge…and Isaac’s beloved partner, Nicole, is lost somewhere on board.

“Now Isaac is alone with only his tools and engineering skills as he attempts to uncover the nightmarish mystery of what happened aboard the Ishimura. Trapped with hostile creatures called ‘necromorphs’, Isaac faces a battle for survival, not only against the escalating terrors of the ship but his own crumbling sanity.”
