EA FC 24’s Playstyles feature was one of the more significant gameplay changes made to this year’s game, which is still slightly under the radar.

Just like FIFA 23’s lengthy players, these player attributes can be more important than some of the base stats if used effectively.

With over 30 PlayStyles available across six categories, which should you be prioritising in the current FC 24 meta?

Here are our top choices for every position.

The newly introduced PlayStyles are categorised as one of the following: Passing, Shooting, Defending, Ball Control, Physical and Goalkeeping.

There are 34 PlayStyles in total, with regular PlayStyles being the signature abilities that make players more unique and help them stand out on the pitch.

But which should you pick?

Best PlayStyles for each position in EA FC 24

To find out what PlayStyle is best, it’s well worth experimenting with each to find which one suits your own approach to the game. That said, here are our recommendations for the best PlayStyles in each position for EA FC 24.

Strikers

The top PlayStyle we’ve been using on our attackers in FC 24 is the Finesse Shot. If you think back a few years to previous FIFA games when finesse shots were pretty overpowered, this PlayStyle replicates that.

As with all these PlayStyles, they get even better with PlayStyles+. Alex Morgan has been our striker of choice with this one, but if you’re building a Premier League team, Mo Salah is another option down the wing.

Wingers

Pacey wingers are once again the meta in FC 24, and the Quick Step PlayStyle has been our choice to make use of the fast players out wide.

Giving faster acceleration during Explosive Sprint, Quick Step may give you the slight edge to run past defenders and cut back to a player in the box.

Sticking in the NWSL, Trinity Rodman has worked wonders for us with the Quick Step PlayStyle+, but Moussa Diaby is also a good choice for Premier League teams.

Outside of Quick Step, we’d also look for Rapid and Technical PlayStyles on our wingers.

Attacking Midfielders (CAM)

The best PlayStyle for CAMs is the Incisive Pass PlayStyle, which gives the player more accurate, faster through balls.

Another bonus PlayStyle we’d suggest for your CAM (or any player) is Dead Ball, which improves their set piece ability.

James Maddison and Paulo Dybala would be our suggestions here.

Defensive Midfielders

As one of the most important players on the team, getting a CM or a CDM who can defend well, and then quickly transition play in attack, is absolutely crucial in FC 24.

We’d recommend running players with several PlayStyles, notably the Jockey and Pinged Pass PlayStyles.

Jockey improves the speed of your jockeying while defending, helping you out in those crucial 1v1s, while Pinged Pass makes your ground passes faster, speeding up your transition into attack.

Georgia Stanway is our choice for this, having both Jockey and Pinged Pass+.

Full-backs

Any full-backs with the same PlayStyles as the wingers are great picks, but our best PlayStyle for a full-back is the Whipped Pass PlayStyle.

This makes your crosses much faster, and more accurate. So if you’re using a formation with overlapping full-backs, can make you much more of an aerial threat.

There are plenty of choice here, but Kieran Trippier, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Alejandro Grimaldo would be our picks.

Centre-backs

Like your defensive midfielders, the Jockey PlayStyle is a great choice for your CBs. We’d also suggest choosing players with Block and Anticipate, too.

Virgil Van Dijk has all three of these PlayStyles, but there are cheaper defenders who have two of these, such as Pierre Kalulu or William Saliba.

Goalkeeper

The Goalkeeper PlayStyles only come into effect when playing on the Be A Goalkeeper (BAG) mode, so don’t matter as much in normal gameplay.

However, if you are playing as a keeper, we’d suggest using Quick Reflexes and Footwork, as these will help in those 1v1 situations after a player breaks through.
