For those of you who missed the accidental early release of the Cursed Sails Event last month, you’re in luck – the Fortnite Pirates of the Caribbean event drops today (intentionally, this time).
Which means that, among other things, you can play as the bumbling yet genius swashbuckler Jack Sparrow.
So what exactly do we know about the Cursed Sails event? And how do we grab that Jack Sparrow skin?
We’ll share all the details below!
When does Captain Jack Sparrow come to Fortnite? Event start date
Captain Jack Sparrow will officially come to Fortnite as part of the Cursed Sails Pass today (Friday the 19th July 2024).
While the Cursed Sails Pass was available to purchase on 22nd June, this was a mistake by the development team.
This was all confirmed in a post made on the official Fortnite Status X (formerly known as Twitter) account:
For players who purchased the Cursed Sails Pass ahead of its intended release on July 19, please note you are currently unable to progress the Pass until the start of the event, but will retain your Jack Sparrow outfit in the meantime.

Now, however, the event has been released for real. The official Fortnite page teased this on X with a graphic of Jack Sparrow running away from Davy Jones and his crew, along with the text “AHHhhghHahhHHH”.

How to get Captain Jack Sparrow skin in Fortnite
To get the Captain Jack Sparrow skin in Fortnite, you will need to purchase the Cursed Sails Pass once it goes live on the in-game Item Shop on 19th July.
Once it’s live, purchasing the Premium Reward Track of the Cursed Sails Pass for 1,000 V-Bucks should earn you the Captain Jack Sparrow skin in Fortnite.

What else is in the Pirates of the Caribbean event?
Aside from the Captain Jack Sparrow skin, a bunch more rewards can be unlocked by levelling up through the Cursed Sails Pass during the Pirates of the Caribbean event in Fortnite.
While Jack himself is included in the pass, other Pirates of the Caribbean-themed items must be purchased separately.
You can purchase Captain Barbosa for 1,500 Vbucks, Davey Jones for 1,600, Elizabeth Swan for 1,600, and, interestingly, Davey Jones’ iconic pipe organ for 600.
