Gamescom is kicking off today, and we’re bringing the biggest news together here.
A big week of gaming news is upon us – Gamescom 2021 starts today, and it will run until Friday, packing in plenty of big reveals and shiny new trailers. And if you’re looking for a rundown of all the essential news from the conference, you’ve come to the right place.
There’s no physical show floor this year, with Cologne’s Koelnmesse exhibition centre once again being left out of the party, so there will be a lot of online content for fans to trawl through instead.

Before Gamescom 2021 properly began, the first nuggets of news started to appear online, as the gaming industry got itself ready for one of its biggest weeks of the year. Here are a couple of interesting pieces of information that arrived on the web before the event kicked off:
- Host Geoff Keighley shared a ‘hype trailer’ for Wednesday’s Opening Night Live event
- The official Gamescom website is running a series of ‘quests’ where you can sign up and earn rewards
- It’s confirmed on Twitter that LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will feature in Wednesday’s Opening Night Live
