Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has officially ended with the release of The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which both serves as an epilogue for Phase 4 and also sets up plot points for next year’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.
The James Gunn-directed festive outing picks up with the gang following their appearances in Avengers: Endgame and Thor: Love and Thunder, with the group now based on Knowhere.
Mantis (Pom Klementieff) and Drax (Dave Bautista) take a break from saving the world and head to Los Angeles in search of Hollywood movie star Kevin Bacon (Kevin Bacon) in order to cheer up Star-Lord/Peter Quill (Chris Pratt).
The special is equal parts silly and sweet and, along the way, their caper is mirrored by an excellent soundtrack.

Director James Gunn confirmed the full soundtrack for the Disney Plus special presentation on Twitter on Tuesday 22nd November 2022.

The songs certainly play a vital role in the Christmassy special and leave us in a nice place with the stories of Star-Lord/Peter Quill, Drax, and Mantis.
