Everything you need to know about this Xbox Series X title from British developers Ninja Theory.
Released back in 2017, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was a unique experience. Standing somewhere between indie and AAA, Ninja Theory created a short game with breathtaking graphics, a moody world, and lofty concepts such as an ambiguous and ominous thread of permadeath.
And the protagonist, Senua, stood out for her struggles with mental illness, possessing strength of a kind we don’t often see in gaming.
We were pretty excited when a sequel was announced back in 2019, and we’re even more hyped after the Hellblade 2 release date was recently confirmed.
We’ll share the latest trailer below, along with everything we know about Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II.
When is the Hellblade 2 release date?
The Hellblade 2 release date will be 21st May 2024, the developers have confirmed through official channels.
Players will be able to jump into Senua’s Saga while the springtime sun is shining, so you might want to close those curtains to improve the atmosphere!
What platforms and consoles will Hellblade 2 be on?
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II was one of the first titles confirmed for the Xbox Series X. It will also launch on Xbox Series S and PC (both Steam and the Xbox PC launcher).
It is unknown if the game will ever come to the PlayStation, Nintendo Switch or any other platforms. We wouldn’t count on it!
What is Hellblade 2 about?
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is a sequel to Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice (we’re unsure why they’ve swapped Hellblade’s side of the colon), which followed the titular Celtic warrior as she battled her way into Viking Hell to rescue her dead lover’s soul.
Not much is known about this follow-up, but it is expected to continue the well-received portrayal of Senua’s psychosis, as well as more exploration into Norse and Celtic culture.
We do have this synopsis: “The sequel to the award winning Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Senua returns in a brutal journey of survival through the myth and torment of Viking Iceland. Intent on saving those who have fallen victim to the horrors of tyranny, Senua faces a battle of overcoming the darkness within and without.”
