The Italian Open is bubbling up to the final weekend with a host of enticing clashes to savour in the semi-finals.
Women’s No.11 seed Veronika Kudermetova faces No.30 Anhelina Kalinina for a place in the final with an unpredictable crop of names in the mix.
In the other semi, new tournament favourite No.7 seed Elena Rybakina faces No.20 Jelena Ostapenko in a crucial showdown.
Men’s World No.1 Carlos Alacaraz went into this tournament on the back of a stunning run of title-winning form, but fans were taken aback as he fell to a wild defeat against World No.135 Fabian Marozsan.
Women’s World No.1 Iga Swiatek is also out of proceedings after retiring from her match against Rybakina through injury.
