The upcoming Marvel Future Revolution mobile game has just announced its release date, and it’s actually coming up a little bit sooner than we’d previously been led to believe.

This open-world action RPG is the latest phone-friendly title from Netmarble, the company that previously stuffed a whole load of superheroes into a popular game called Marvel Future Fight.

Marvel Future Revolution seems to be a step up in terms of scope, compared to Marvel Future Fight, and there isn’t that long to go until we’ll be able to try it out. Numerous iconic heroes have already been confirmed, and soon we’ll be able to take control of them.

Keep on reading, then, and we’ll break down the latest news on that Marvel Future Revolution release date, and the pre-registration bonus that has just been confirmed!

What is Marvel Future Revolution?

Marvel Future Revolution is an open-world mobile game with a multiverse-converging story, as this official synopsis explains: “Marvel Future Revolution begins when numerous Earths converge in the multiverse to form an entirely new ‘Primary Earth’ filled with unique zones and missions to explore, such as the high-tech New Stark City, the dangerous Hydra Empire, the wild and rugged Sakaar, and many more.”

The synopsis continues: “As agents of the newly formed ‘Omega Flight’ Super Hero team, players will work together to battle an onslaught of Super Villains and defend the ‘Primary Earth’ from a never-ending series of threats.” The story was penned by Marc Sumerak, a writer/editor who has worked rather a lot for Marvel Comics, so there’s some solid pedigree involved behind the scenes.

When is the Marvel Future Revolution release date for iOS and Android?

Netmarble has confirmed that the Marvel Future Revolution release date is set for Wednesday 25th August 2021, when the game will launch globally on all the main mobile platforms.

Like most mobile titles, you can expect this game to launch on both iPhone and Android devices. Players who use iPhones will eventually be able to download it from the Apple App Store just like any other available app, while Android users will find it in the Google Play store and download the game as an APK file.

Prior to this announcement, we had been expecting the game to launch on 30th September 2021, since that date was mentioned on the game’s App Store page. But now we know that 25th August is the actual release date!

Can I pre-register for Marvel Future Revolution? Is there a pre-order bonus?

The pre-registration window has opened for Marvel Future Revolution, meaning you can pre-order the game now on Google Play for Android or the App Store for iPhone. It’s worth noting that the App Store pre-orders will only work on a mobile device, though, so don’t try to sign up on a Mac! You can also pre-register via email on the game’s official website. Signing up is free, however you do it.

As for a pre-order bonus, players who register in advance will be able to pick one special costume – a full set of cosmetics for one hero – from the Pre-Registration Costume Gift Box pictured below.

Although most of us are still waiting for the game, a lucky few seem to be already playing it – we’ve seen it reported that there has been a soft-launch early access period going on in Canada since 2nd July.

Is Marvel Future Revolution free?

Yes, it is! Netmarble has confirmed that Marvel Future Revolution is a free-to-play game, so you’ll be able to download the game and start playing without having to part with any cash.

The game will include in-app purchases, though – if you’re unfamiliar with the concept, these are generally small extra costs that are totally optional. It’ll be interesting to see what these in-app purchases relate to in the game.

Marvel Future Revolution playable characters list

So far, the developers have promised eight playable characters: Captain America, Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, Black Widow, Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Star-Lord, and Storm, each of which will apparently be “outfitted in an extensive collection of iconic costumes from throughout the Marvel Universe, with a tremendous selection of more than 400 million costume combinations per hero to choose from”.

If you take a look at the key art below, though, you might spot a few other familiar faces – including Vision! There’s also Rocket Raccoon in the bottom left, who is a very welcome inclusion, especially after he got cut from the Loki series!

Which villains are in Marvel Future Revolution?

“Villains include Red Skull, Baron Mordo, M.O.D.O.K., Green Goblin, and Red Goblin.” That’s what the official Marvel website says on the matter of which baddies will appear in Marvel Future Revolution. Of course, we wouldn’t be surprised to see more villains confirmed at a later date.

Again, if you look at the new key art above, you may well spot a few other famous foes from the comics. Magneto and Ultron are pretty easy to spot! It certainly seems like a lot of characters will appear in this one!

In a two-minute video on Twitter, the developers also teased that we will be seeing various different versions of these characters, with alternate incarnations of iconic heroes and villains popping in from across the multiverse. We’ve seen the Spider-Punk version of Spider-Man in one trailer, for example.

Is there gameplay footage for Marvel Future Revolution?

The developers from Netmarble have recently shared a whopping 40-minute preview of the game, packing in plenty of gameplay footage and lots of tasty details. Take a look below to get a flavour of the game in action:
