From Swordfight Peach to Patisserie Peach, here’s everything we know about the upcoming Switch game.
Step aside, Mario – a new Princess Peach game is upon us! It will have only taken more than 18 years for Princess Peach: Showtime to land on Nintendo Switch in 2024, but from everything we’re seeing, it’s looking like it will have been worth the wait.
While the Mushroom Kingdom Princess is attending the Sparkle Theatre, the wicked Grape and the Sour Bunch cause a huge ruckus that looks to ruin the play. It’s now up to Peach and the theatre’s guardian, Stella, to stop them before it’s too late.
Using the power of Stella’s ribbon, Peach can transform into various different forms, including Swordfighter Peach, Kung Fu Peach, Patisserie Peach or even Detective Peach. Gameplay is also said to change to whatever form the princess is wearing, accordingly. The best news is that we won’t have long to wait to start enjoying the show.
To find out everything we know about Princess Peach: Showtime, head below for all the latest details – including, release date, trailers, gameplay, story details and more.
When is the Princess Peach: Showtime release date?
Nintendo has confirmed that Princess Peach: Showtime will launch on 22nd March 2024 for Nintendo Switch.
Originally teased as an untitled Princess Peach game in June 2023, Nintendo officially confirmed the game’s new title and release date in September 2023. It will likely act as one of the last major releases on Nintendo Switch, with many expecting the console’s successor to be released sometime in 2024.
Can I pre-order Princess Peach Showtime?
Nintendo has officially opened pre-orders for Princess Peach Showtime, with pre-orders now live on Nintendo eShop.
Several select retailers are expected to go live with their pre-order pages in the coming days, however, GAME currently has a landing page ready to go and we’re pretty confident that the likes of Amazon and such will follow shortly. We will then update this page accordingly.
Which consoles and platforms can play Princess Peach: Showtime game?
Princess Peach: Showtime is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch platform. This means you need either a Nintendo Switch, a Nintendo Switch Lite or a Nintendo Switch OLED to play the game. As this is a first-party Nintendo game, it will be exclusive to Nintendo’s home systems.
There’s a chance it might arrive on a Switch successor (since rumours are swirling that a follow-up console is coming in 2024) or that system might be backwards compatible. That’s purely speculation at this point, though.
Princess Peach: Showtime gameplay and story details
Princess Peach: Showtime gameplay is an interesting one. While we’ve now been showing a decent portion of it, it’s not entirely clear how the game will actually play.
Following the game’s September trailer, Nintendo released details (via a press release) stating that “gameplay changes depending on Peach’s role”, which refers to the many transformations Peach will undergo, such as Swordfighter Peach, Kung Fu Peach, Patisserie Peach and Detective Peach.
From this, we can assume it will feature puzzles, sword combat and mini-games of some sort. It will also be played in both 2D and 3D.
When it comes to the story, Nintendo has provided a synopsis that reads: “Just as Princess Peach and her retinue of Toads are attending a show at the Sparkle Theater, the wicked Grape and the Sour Bunch take centre stage to cause a ruckus. Now it’s up to Peach and Stella, the theatre’s guardian, to save the play – and the day.”
Grape and the Sour Bunch are new villains to the Mario franchise, something we’re thankful for considering this could have been Bowser kidnapping someone for the umpteenth time.
Is there a Princess Peach: Showtime trailer?
Yes, there are multiple trailers for Princess Peach: Showtime.
The first trailer debuted in a Nintendo Direct in June 2023 and provided a brief teaser for the game. In fact, it didn’t even have a title at that point, simply known as “untitled Princess Peach game”. Check it out below:
The second trailer for Princess Peach: Showtime was uploaded as part of a Nintendo Direct in September 2023. The title and more gameplay are shown here, including the new transformations Peach will be able to make. Watch below:
