The BBC show will be back for another season!
It’s almost time for Race Across The World to finally return to our screens and while we’ve had the celebrity version to fill the void, nothing quite beats the original format, does it?
The fourth season of the hit show returns next week on Wednesday 10th April and will once again see five intrepid duos trying their hardest to reach the checkpoints first with no access to mobile phones, internet access or bank cards. Ultimately, they’re relying on the kindness of strangers and as we’ve seen in the past, it really can be make or break.
Previous seasons have taken us all around the globe and this time round, the five pairs will be tackling the 15,000 kilometre race across several countries in Eastern Asia.
Last year’s season saw best friends Cathie and Tricia take home the cash prize of £20,000, but who will reign supreme this time round? There are two mother-daughter duos, siblings, best friends and a retired couple who all think they have what it takes to reach that finish line.
With a new trailer for the series having just dropped, what else can we expect from the new series? Read on for everything you need to know about Race Across The World season 4.

Who is in the Race Across the World season 4 cast?
As with the previous three seasons of the original series, Race Across The World is all about regular people trying to navigate international travel so we can, undoubtedly, expect some big personalities and clashes coming our way.
Some of the most enjoyable watches of the series so far have been in the familial duos and this time round, we’ve got plenty. There are two mother-daughter pairings in the form of snowboard instructor Brydie and cleaner Sharon, and teacher Eugenie and trainee clinical scientist Isabel. There’s also brother and sister, social media and events manager Betty and sales consultant James.
We also have 20-year-old best friends, Owen (trainee pilot) and Alfie (football referee) and retired married couple, Stephen and Viv.
The complete list of Race Across The World season 4 contestants are as follows:
- Brydie and Sharon
- Eugenie and Isabel
- Betty and James
- Owen and Alfie
- Stephen and Viv
What is the route for Race Across the World season 4?
The route for the 2024 season of Race Across The World has now been confirmed and will cover Eastern Asia, with the teams starting off in northernmost Japan.
Throughout the competition, the five pairs will cross a whopping six seas and eight borders to reach the finish line in Lombok, an island in West Nusa Tenggara province in Indonesia.
In the journey, they will also come across the path of the “volcanic ring of fire”, which is known as “the most geologically unstable region on the planet to reach the finish line in Lombok, an idyllic Indonesian island paradise”, according to the series synopsis.
Is there a trailer for Race Across the World season 4?
There is! The trailer gives us our first glimpse of the couples and the challenges of navigating international travel with no knowledge of the language, minimal directions and only the bags they have on their back.
There are tears, fallouts and some pretty spectacular views in store, though. Watch the trailer for yourself below.
