The characters also play a constant stream of ‘90s bangers.
Horror series Red Rose has landed on Netflix after originally airing on BBC Three last year, introducing a new audience to the harrowing plot, which revolves around a group of teenagers living in Bolton and an insidious app that appears to drive them to commit increasingly disturbing acts.
Mirroring the hectic coming-of-age journey is a chaotic soundtrack, which features a variety of iconic tracks from several different eras, but chiefly the 1990s.
These include a bizarre Barbie Girl remix (originally played by Aqua) that changes the upbeat original song into a sombre choral version as well as a solemn cover of Blue (Da Ba Dee).
I would like to thank “Red rose” on Netflix for the audacity to have a funeral scene with a somber choral rendition of “Barbie Girl” by Aqua as the soundtrack.
