The Sex and the City stars return to our screens on Thursday in And Just Like That – HBO’s revival of the hit sitcom.
The new series, which catches up with the Cosmopolitan-drinking city women almost 20 years after the show ended, sees Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis reprise their iconic roles – although Kim Cattrall sadly won’t be returning to play Samantha.
And Just Like That will follow the friends as they navigate parenthood, friendship and New York in their fifties and sixties, with the 10-parter airing on Sky Max in the UK.
Aside from the main trio, the series will see a number of familiar faces return, from Mr Big and Steve Brady, to Harry Goldenblatt and Stanford Blatch (played by the late Willie Garson).
Meanwhile, the show will see a host of new talent join its cast, including Grey’s Anatomy star Sara Ramirez and Homeland’s Sarita Choudhury.
Read on for everything you need to know about the cast and characters in the Sex and the City revival.
Sex and the City: And Just Like That cast

It’s also been confirmed that Mario Cantone (Anthony), Willie Garson (Stanford), David Eigenberg (Steve) and Evan Handler (Harry) are all starring in the upcoming revival of Darren Star’s classic series.
John, aka. Mr Big himself – played Chris Noth – will also star in the series, executive producer Michael Patrick King recently confirmed.
As for brand new additions, Sex and the City will feature its very first non-binary character, played by Grey’s Anatomy’s Sara Ramírez.

Who is Carrie Bradshaw? Our protagonist, published author and New York’s resident sex columnist, our style-conscious heroine Carrie is (last time we checked in with her) now hitched to the wealthy Mr Big (real name John) following a tumultuous dating life almost as varied as her extensive walk-in wardrobe.

While it was originally reported that Mr Big would not be returning, it’s now been confirmed that the tycoon will make an appearance. As executive producer Michael Patrick King put it: “How could we ever do a new chapter of the Sex and the City story without our Mr Big?”

Why isn’t Samantha in Sex and the City: And Just Like That?
Samantha Jones, played by Kim Cattrall, will not be returning to complete the Sex and the City quartet, and will be missing from the And Just Like That line-up.
The series also won’t include Smith Jerrod, Samantha’s love interest played by Jason Smith.
“Samantha isn’t part of this story. But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do,” Sarah Jessica Parker said on Instagram, responding to a fan’s query about Samantha’s absence.
In a 2017 interview with Piers Morgan, Kim Cattrall said she wouldn’t return to the role of Samantha, and that she hoped “another actress [would]… play it”.
“I played it past the finish line and then some and I loved it and another actress should play it,” she said. “Maybe they could make it an African-American Samantha Jones or a Hispanic Samantha Jones, or bring in another character.”
Cattrall also had a long-standing public feud with co-star Parker, and previously told her former co-star via Instagram that she was “cruel,” adding: “You are not my family. You are not my friend.”
Cattrall told Morgan: “This is really where I take to task the people from Sex and the City and specifically Sarah Jessica Parker, is that I think she could have been nicer. I really think she could have been nicer. I don’t know what her issue is.
“The thing that still bothers me is this feeling of being in some way made to be the baddie. I never asked for any money, I never asked for any projects, to be thought of as some kind of diva is absolutely ridiculous.”
