One of the films to have performed best in the recently announced Oscar nominations is Alexander Payne’s The Holdovers, a Yuletide-set comedy-drama that – despite its baffling UK release date – is already being tipped as a future Christmas classic.

The film scored five nods from the Academy, including one in the Best Picture category, to add to the seven nominations it had already received at the BAFTA Film Awards.

Alongside its impeccable script and performances, one of the many joys of the film is the soundtrack, which includes both original score compositions by Mark Orton and a vast array of beloved Christmas songs, from Silent Night to Jingle Bells.

Meanwhile, there are also some hits from a few artists popular in the ’70s, such as The Allman Brothers Band and Cat Stevens.

Read on for the list of songs featured in The Holdovers soundtrack.
