It was the end of an era when Keeping Up With The Kardashians left E! after almost 15 years on our TV screens. We never expected the mega rich and famous to be off our screens for too long, and they’ll be making their return to the reality TV universe in April.
According to Variety, the new series will be more documentary-style than the original show, and Hulu/Disney+ will launch two seasons, 40 episodes in total. In keeping with typical Kardashian fashion, the show will be delving into the family’s highly-publicised dramas, including Kim Kardashian’s divorce with Kanye West, and her new relationship with SNL comedian Pete Davidson.
However, Davidson will not feature in the new series. Well, not in season 1, anyway. “I have not filmed with him,” Kim K told Variety. “And I’m not opposed to it. It’s just not what he does. But if there was an event happening and he was there, he wouldn’t tell the cameras to get away. I think I might film something really exciting coming, but it wouldn’t be for this season.”
The reality TV star added that the show will reveal “how we met and who reached out to who and how it happened and all the details that everyone wants to know”.
“I’m definitely open to talking, and I definitely explain it,” she continued.

Kanye West will be in the series, which was filmed before things turned acrimonious between the former couple. His appearance is reported to be integral to episode 1.
“Being in the public eye and having disagreements publicly is never easy,” Kim told the publication. “But I do believe in handling it all privately. I believe in championing publicly and criticising privately. I don’t think I would ever criticise the father of my children on my TV show. That’s just not really what I’m about, and I just don’t think that would ever make me feel good.”
She added: “I’m always really respectful of what the kids will see. The reality is, we’re always a family. We always will have a love and respect for each other. And even if there’s moments where it might not seem like that, there are so many moments that are super positive. I do think it’s important for people to see that things aren’t perfect all the time, but that they can get better.”
From the teaser trailers, it looks as though Kourtney’s fiancé, Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker will be in the show. As will Khloe’s on/off partner NBA star Tristan Thompson, with whom she shares three-year-old daughter True. Khloe has revealed that Thompson fathering a child with another woman (which he discovered after taking a paternity test) will feature in the new series.
Meanwhile, Caitlyn Jenner will not appear, while Rob Kardashian is expected to make a few appearances, though he is not credited as a main contributor.
Released last month, the first-look trailer promises that “all the walls will be shattered” in the new series. Disney says the show will be “an all-access pass” into the lives of the world’s most famous celebrity family as they run their business empires and love lives.
Like Keeping Up with the Kardashians, the new series will feature Kris Jenner and her daughters Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian as well as Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner.
Walt Disney Television’s chairman of entertainment, Dana Walden, who was instrumental in their signing to the streaming platform, said: “We stepped up to a great deal that they very much deserve. Who would you want more for your unscripted slate than the Kardashians? They perfectly symbolise our strategy, which is taking big shots, but the right shots, and betting on incredible talent and best-in-class opportunities in each genre.”
It comes after the famous family announced in December 2020 that they would be moving over to Hulu after signing a multi-year deal with Disney to “create global content”.
In May 2021, Kris Jenner termed the change a “no brainer”. “This is the next chapter,” she explained during the Disney Upfronts event.
“In the new show, you’ll see us evolving as a family. Fans want us to be who we are, and since moment one, they’ve been emotionally invested in our show, just like we are. The fans will love seeing us continue the journey. I can’t say much about what’s coming, but spoiler – we’re going to look fabulous and everyone’s going to watch.”
We have no doubt about that. Here’s everything we know about the Kardashians’ new reality show, from the storylines we can hope to see and cast to the expected release date.
The Kardashians release date
It’s official: The Kardashians will premiere exclusively on Disney Plus on 14th April 2022 in the UK.
In the US, the series will be available to stream on Hulu.
How to watch new Hulu show The Kardashians in the UK
The new Kardashians series will air on Hulu in the US.
However, fans in the UK needn’t fear, for it will be broadcast to international audiences including UK viewers via Star on Disney Plus.
So, the UK will not miss out on the new series despite the lack of streaming service Hulu in the UK.
Who will be in the cast of The Kardashians on Hulu?
Fans have been clamouring to know which of the Kardashian-Jenner family clan will be making their onscreen return.
There’s good news on this front – all of the Kardashian members are on board for the new show.
This means that we can expect our favourite faces, including Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner to appear in the show.
Kanye West and Tristan Thompson will also be appearing on the show. Rob K will make guest appearances. Pete Davison definitely won’t be in season 1.
Caitlyn Jenner won’t feature.
“But @ScottDisick is coming with us to Hulu sooooooo I get it BUT he will be back!!!!” Kim told fans on Instagram after Keeping Up with the Kardashians came to an end.
The Kardashians plot
The Kardashians is set to detail Kim Kardashian’s divorce from Kanye West, and delve into her new relationship with Pete Davidson. Though SNL star Davidson won’t be in season one, Kim K doesn’t rule him out from appearing in the second instalment.
“I have not filmed with him,” Kim K recently told Variety. “And I’m not opposed to it. It’s just not what he does. But if there was an event happening and he was there, he wouldn’t tell the cameras to get away. I think I might film something really exciting coming, but it wouldn’t be for this season.”
Rapper Kanye will be in the new series, and his appearance in episode 1 is set to play a big part. We also know that Tristan Thompson, the on/off partner of Khloe Kardashian, will be in the new show, as will the revelation that he has fathered a child with another woman. Kourtney’s fiancé Blink 182 drummer will be in the series, and Rob Kardashian is set to make guest appearances too.
Caitlyn Jenner will not feature.
On the feel of the new show, Kim added to the publication: “My goal was that it was familiar and felt like home, like, ‘Oh, my God, they’re back.’ But updated or just a little bit more intimate.”
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal back in October 2021, Kim also gave fans a clue what to expect.
Kim explained that the family have retained editing rights over the new show – and that it will focus on the family’s business enterprises rather than dramatic plot-lines.
“I think it will be a different side,” she told the publication. “But I wouldn’t say that our silly sides are not going to come out.”
Kris Jenner has also hinted at what’s in store for fans, explaining that the new show will depart from the original.
“This is the next chapter,” Kris revealed at Disney’s Upfronts virtual presentation in May 2021.
“In the new show, you’ll see us evolving as a family, fans want us to be who we are and since moment one, they’ve been emotionally invested in our show just like we are,” she revealed.
“The fans will love seeing us continue the journey. I can’t say much about what’s coming but spoiler – we’re going to look fabulous and everyone’s going to watch.”
Is there a trailer for The Kardashians?
Hulu dropped a trailer for the series on New Year’s Day and, while it doesn’t reveal much about the new storylines, we do catch a glimpse of Kylie’s pregnancy bump.
Watch the clip below.
The words “when the countdown to the New Year ends the countdown to the new show begins” are shown, before the screen splits to show glimpses of each Kardashian-Jenner member as they wish viewers a “Happy New Year”.
