Chelsea must bounce back against basement dwellers Bristol City if they are to keep their slim hopes of retaining the Women’s Super League crown alive.

Blues boss Emma Hayes conceded defeat to Manchester City in the title race following Wednesday’s damaging 4-3 loss at Liverpool, although the trophy can still be lifted if they win their remaining three games and their rivals are beaten in either of their last two.

Goal difference would, in that scenario, come into play, and Chelsea will be licking their lips at the prospect of facing a Bristol City side that have conceded nearly three goals per game this season.

Quite frankly, it has been a disastrous campaign for the Robins, as their instant return to the Women’s Championship has already been confirmed.

They have collected points from just four of their 20 league games, and this looks likely to be another defeat as they lost 3-0 to Chelsea in last December’s reverse fixture.
