Pressure is building on Roy Hodgson at Crystal Palace, so it is far from an ideal time for a visit from former club Liverpool.

Hodgson had some firm words in response to criticism from the Palace fans after their 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth at Selhurst Park in midweek – a result that means they’ve won just once since the start of September. They’ve still got a healthy cushion above the relegation places and have some key players out injured but there is a growing feeling that a change in the dugout is needed.

There were boos from Eagles fans on Wednesday evening and Saturday’s game could bring yet more frustration for the Selhurst Park faithful as Liverpool arrive in fine form.

The Reds’ 2-0 victory over Sheffield United means they’ve taken 10 points from their last four games and are just two back from Premier League leaders Arsenal.

With Man City faltering recently and the Gunners heading to Villa Park late on Saturday afternoon, Liverpool can go top of the table with a win in South London.
