Promotion-chasing Leeds United are bidding to make it eight league wins in a row when they make the long trip to Plymouth Argyle this weekend.
Tuesday’s 4-0 rout of Swansea City – in which Wilfried Gnonto bagged a brace – was the latest victory of their hot streak, and helped the Whites climb to second in the Championship table.
Plymouth, last season’s League One champions, are looking good in their bid to achieve safety, and a famous victory against Leeds would help the Pilgrims reach the 40 point mark with more than a quarter of the season still to play.
Ian Foster’s side have had less time than their opponents to recover, however, after a 2-2 draw with Coventry on Wednesday, and they will need to bounce back after conceding an equaliser at the death.
This will be the fourth meeting between the two teams in the 2023/24 campaign, with Leeds winning two of the previous matches thanks to a 2-1 victory in last November’s reverse fixture and a 4-1 success in this month’s FA Cup fourth round replay at Home Park.
