Everything you need to know about the much-loved Channel 4 show as it returns for a 17th series – oh, that’s a lot of TV watching!
Gogglebox is back, this time for a special episode to celebrate Channel 4’s Black To Front project, which will see the network disrupt its regular schedule to broadcast 24 hours of television showcasing Black talent on and off screen.
For the one-off episode, a mix of famous friends will take to their sofas to give their verdict on the television shows of the week.
The line-up includes Mo Gilligan and Babatunde Aleshe, who are regulars on the show and have been part of the Celebrity Gogglebox cast for some time now.
They’ll be joined by many more including, Wretch 32 and Ghetts, and Jourdan Dunn and her brother Antoine.
The one-off episode will air on Friday, 10th September.

When is Gogglebox back on TV?
Gogglebox will return for a celebrity special on Friday, 10th September to celebrate Channel 4’s Black To Front day.
Series 17 kicked off on Channel 4 on Friday 26th February at 9pm, while the last celebrity series aired over the summer.
A new series is expected to return to the network in 2022.
What is Gogglebox about?
Gogglebox is a reality series that sees a number of families or groups of friends across the UK watch and commentate on the various shows seen on TV that week.
The series, now narrated by Craig Cash, has been airing on Channel 4 since 2013 and has won various awards, including a BAFTA TV Award for Reality and Constructed Factual Programme.
Gogglebox cast
The Black To Front cast will include: Mo Gilligan and Babatunde Aleshe, Wretch 32 and Ghetts, Jourdan Dunn and her brother Antoine, Eddie Kadi and Michael Dapaah, and Ashley Banjo, his brother Jordan and Perri Kiely.
For the full-length series, the Gogglebox cast members tend to stay the same.
For the most recent series, however, Tom Malone announced he’d stepped down from the show, sharing a post on Instagram which read: “So after six and a half years it’s finally time to put down the remote, and to say goodbye to Gogglebox. I’ve loved every minute and I’m eternally grateful to @channel4 and @studiolambert for allowing me to be a part of the show. But new opportunities are knocking on the door and it’s time to explore them.”
He added: “I look forward to enjoying the show as a viewer and not having to worry about having said something stupid. PS. Don’t worry my family @themalonesgb and @shaunmalone95 will still be on the show to keep you guys entertained every Friday. To the future.”
A spokesperson for Channel 4 confirmed the news, saying: “Tom Malone Jr has decided to leave Gogglebox but the Malone family will continue to be part of the series. We’d like to thank him for his contributions over the years and wish him all the best for the future.”
As for new cast, the show doesn’t usually announce new members until the it airs, so it’s likely we could see some new faces when it returns.
