The French Open could re-ignite a battle at the top of the WTA Rankings depending on how far Iga Swiatek can progress at Roland-Garros this time around.

The reigning champion sits at the top of the charts with a healthy lead of more than 3,000 points, meaning she cannot be dislodged in Paris.

She stands to lose all of her 2,000 points for winning here last year, meaning a shock early exit could see the gap close considerably.

However, if Swiatek can fight her way through to another final, she can enjoy a relatively pressure-free summer at the summit.

Based on her recent clay form, it is hard to see beyond Swiatek defending her crown. She won the Madrid Open and Italian Open with back-to-back final victories over her closest rival, Aryna Sabalenka, sending an ominous signal to the chasing pack in the process.
