The battle royale is going back to the beginning…
Like the seasons, Fortnite always changes.
But this time, it’s changing back to something from long, long ago – which begs the question, “When is the old Fortnite map coming back?”
Only the return of the map is confirmed so far, and as expected, there is plenty of hearsay about what will be included in the next Fortnite season.
With rumours running rampant recently about Fortnite shutting down, it’s hard to know what to believe. Fortunately, we have a round-up of the most credible leaks.
It’s not just leakers on X, though; Epic Games have been at it themselves by hinting and teasing at what awaits us in Season 5, both in-game and on social media.
We have even more details regarding when the next Fortnite Season, so do be sure to check it out to get ahead of the curve.
There’s plenty to get through, so read on to find out when you’ll be jumping out that old Battle Bus once more.

Yes, the old Fortnite map is coming back, as was announced by Epic over on X (formerly Twitter).

Though Epic Games has made an official announcement regarding the return of the old Fortnite map, details are light, and the rumour mill hasn’t stopped since 10th October 2023 – when Epic posted an image of villain Kado Thorne standing in front of a time travel machine.

Just above the machine is a display with the date “2018 07 12” – this is the first day that Chapter 1 Season 5 of Fortnite rolled out under the name Worlds Collide. It would seem that history is repeating itself…
Rumours intensified further when known leaker Hypex shared (via X, formerly Twitter) that a “reliable source” claimed Chapter 1 would return in Season 5 as a result of the time machine breaking.
It would then cycle through the various seasons for a month, with different weapons from the early days of Fortnite coming back, too.
With the setting of Chapter 4 Season 5 now confirmed, will the rest of the leaks prove to be true too?
Only time will tell, and we’ll have the latest as soon as we know more!
When is the old Fortnite map coming back?
As revealed in their tweet, the old Fortnite map is returning on 3rd November 2023.
This makes sense, as it is the same date that the Fortnitemares event ends before the next season starts.
Six years on from the original release, it’ll be a blast to revisit the seminal island in all its glory – and from a time when Fortnite’s success was all but certain.
Before then, you can also check out the Alan Wake recap event to relive the events of the original game before you play Alan Wake 2.
