Now that we’re into the tail-end of 2022, picking up an Xbox Series X should be easier than it ever has been before. While there are still some stock issues holding the console back, it does appear to be in stock more often than not these days.
Unlike PS5 stock, the Xbox Series X (£449.99) can be found most of the time, although stock might be trickier during this busy Christmas season, and the less powerful, digital-only Xbox Series S (£249.99) seems to be in stock practically everywhere.
As always, Smyths is a good place to look for the console as they are one of the few retailers that offer Xbox All Access as an option when they have stock, which means you can pay for both monthly rather than outright – GAME has this offer too.
Very is another retailer that appears to always have at least the Series S in stock. The digital-only and less powerful current-gen Xbox Series option seems to be less sought-after but it can still make for a great gift alongside a subscription to Game Pass as long as the best graphics aren’t on that person’s priorities.

Xbox Series X review: “The next-generation of gaming arrives with a console that more than lives up to the hype. A sleek design and a super quiet machine, the Xbox Series X really shows what next-gen games can look like and does so in style. Long loading times already seem like a thing of the past and quick resume is a brilliant addition, while the small changes to the controller make all the difference. Add to that Gamespass that now includes the wealth of titles that come with EA Play and it is clear that Microsoft are onto a winner.”
