The BBC has finally announced the release date of Michael McIntyre’s hit BBC One gameshow The Wheel.

The hit Saturday night series, which features various celebrities assisting contestants with their specialist subjects for the chance to win big money, will return to BBC One on Saturday, 22nd October at 5:40pm.

The BBC confirmed the return of Michael McIntyre’s Big Show and The Wheel earlier this year.

McIntyre said in a statement: “Three long years of no Unexpected Stars, of me not getting my hands on a single celebrity’s mobile phone, of people sleeping soundly without fear of me sneaking into their bedrooms. Well the wait is over, the Big Show is back and we’ve used those three years to think of even bigger surprises and bigger laughs!

“And, as well as making stars of the unsuspecting public on the Big Show, I will be making another series of the show that literally revolves around me! Yes! The Wheel is spinning back too! I’m elated that both shows are so beloved and returning to BBC One.”

Previous celebrity guests have included Dermot O’Leary, Gregg Wallace, Judi Love, Roman Kemp, Lorraine Kelly, Gemma Collins, Big Zuu and Carol Vorderman.

The game show first aired in 2020 during the Covid 19 pandemic, and it became the highest new BBC Entertainment launch in a decade with episode 1 consolidating almost seven million viewers.

The series features a line-up of famous experts sitting at different points on the wheel as it spins, with contestants hoping that the arrow will land on the most knowledgable celebrity for their chosen topic.

Series one enjoyed a widely successful run which saw 6.3 million viewers tune into episode one.

Here’s everything we know so far about The Wheel’s return and how you can apply to be on series two.

When will The Wheel series three be on TV?

The Wheel is back for series three on BBC One on Saturday, 22nd October at 5:40pm.
