Jed Mercurio has already floated the possibility of a second season of Trigger Point<\/a>, teasing that the six-part series is \u201cset up to be a returner\u201d.<\/p>\n The Line of Duty<\/a> creator, who produces Trigger Point through HTM Television, made the comments at a recent ITV press event attended by RadioTimes.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cIf this series goes down well with the audience, we\u2019d love to do more. It\u2019s set up to be a returner,\u201d he said. \u201cWe know how much audiences love thrillers \u2013 they\u2019re a big part of people\u2019s TV experience now, and having another series of Trigger Point in the future would be great if we\u2019re lucky enough to get to that point.\u201d<\/p>\n Vicky McClure, who plays Detective Inspector Kate Fleming in the Line of Duty cast<\/a>, takes on the role of an ex-military bomb disposal operative (otherwise known as an \u2018Expo\u2019) Lana Washington in the new ITV thriller.<\/p>\n The Trigger Point trailer<\/a> was released in November, teasing a nail-biting plot and insight into counter-terrorism policing and the risks taken every day by Lana (McClure) and her close colleague Joel Nutkins (Adrian Lester), with whom she served in Afghanistan.<\/p> Creator Daniel Brierley said: \u201cI couldn\u2019t ask for a better Lana than Vicky [McClure] and it\u2019s an honour to be given the chance to tell the exciting and unknown story of the brave Expo officers who risk their lives every day to keep us safe.\u201d<\/p>\n Mercurio also tweeted that it was a \u201cthrill to continue the collaboration with the brilliant Vicky McClure on Tiger Point\u201d.<\/p>\n Read more on Trigger Point:<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Trigger Point begins on ITV at 9pm tonight (23rd January).
