The Ipcress File<\/a>, which stars Joe Cole, Lucy Boynton, and Tom Hollander.<\/p>\nThe series is the second major adaptation of Len Deighton\u2019s novel of the same name \u2013 following the 1965 film version starring Michael Caine \u2013 and follows events after a British sergeant is offered a position as a spy to avoid serving prison time.<\/p>\n
The mission he is assigned is referred to as The Ipcress File, and as the trailer suggests, it involves tracking down a missing person in Berlin.<\/p>
The trailer begins with Lucy Boynton\u2019s Jean explaining the situation. \u201cWe have an operation in Berlin,\u201d she says. \u201cIt\u2019s the retrieval of a missing person.\u201d<\/p>\n
We then see a man appear to be taken captive before Major Dalby (Hollander) arrives at a prison to collect Harry Palmer (Cole) and explain to him his mission.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat do you want?\u201d Palmer asks, with Dalby then explaining,\u00a0 \u201cYou will help us to locate and retrieve the missing person.\u201d<\/p>\n
Later, we hear someone ask Dalby if he thinks he can trust Palmer, to which the Major replies, \u201cAlmost certainly not.\u201d<\/p>\n
The trailer also includes several tense-looking action scenes and teases sparks of romance between Palmer and Jean, while we also learn exactly why the missing person is of such high importance: he is responsible for designing atomic bombs. \u201cGreat,\u201d deadpans Cole as Palmer.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf one of those things goes off, nothing matters,\u201d Dalby explains.<\/p>\n
