<\/p>
New Emmerdale cast member Darcy Gray has revealed that his character Marcus Dean is \u201cquite similar\u201d to his father \u2013 the villainous Pierce Harris.<\/p>\n
Gray is set to make his debut on the soap next week, with the arrival of Marcus set to bring about a major shock for Pierce\u2019s ex-partner Rhona Goskirk.<\/p>\n
And speaking to RadioTimes.com<\/a> and other press, the actor said that although Marcus strives to be a very different person from his dad, there are some areas in which they are more alike than he\u2019d like to admit.<\/p>\n \u201cI think we all don\u2019t think that we\u2019re like our parents in real life,\u201d he explained. \u201cMe and my dad, I know him very well but I didn\u2019t grow up with him and so there\u2019s always been a separation even though we\u2019ve been empathetically close but I\u2019ve always thought \u2018I\u2019m not really like him, I\u2019m definitely like my mum.\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cBut as I\u2019m growing slightly older, I\u2019m noticing little bits that I\u2019m like \u2018My dad reacts like that, my dad does those sorts of things\u2019 so I think Marcus likes to think he\u2019s nothing like his dad but I think that instinctual thing comes out of him through the story, that\u2019s the bit that we\u2019ll tend to see that he is quite similar to his dad at some point.\u201d<\/p> Speaking more generally about the character, Gray said that Marcus is \u201ca bit of an outcast\u201d and revealed that he is entering \u201cquite an exciting point in his life\u201d when he arrives in the village.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s very interesting, I think, he\u2019s also a bit of an outcast, he doesn\u2019t necessarily know what his position is and the interesting point at this part of the storyline is that all of a sudden it has shifted what he thought was a calm life,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s got himself a job, he knows where his mum lives and he thought he knew where he was, and then all of a sudden this piece of information comes through about his dad and it\u2019s just shifted things and reverted it back to this unstable position for him.<\/p>\n \u201cThe reason I think he\u2019s an outcast is because he\u2019s always had that pressure from his dad.
