British comedian Barry Cryer has died at the age of 86.<\/p>\n
The Leeds-born comedian was described as a \u201cgifted writer and performer\u201d and \u201cgiant of British comedy\u201d in a series of tributes shared on social media after news of his passing.<\/p>\n
A cause of death is yet to be confirmed.<\/p>\n
Cryer\u2019s career in the entertainment industry spans decades and saw him work with comedy legends including Bob Hope, Bruce Forsyth, David Frost and Spike Milligan.<\/p>\n
He also penned episodes for the TV comedy Doctor in The House, which ran from 1969 to 1970.<\/p>\n
He appeared as a regular on BBC Radio 4\u2019s I\u2019m Sorry I Haven\u2019t A Clue, which began in 1972.<\/p>\n
Following the tragic news of Cryer\u2019s passing, celebrity friends and fans flocked to social media to pay tribute.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cA glorious, gorgeous, hilarious and gifted writer and performer who straddled all the comic traditions. Universally beloved \u2026 farewell, Baz.\u201d<\/p>\n
Piers Morgan tweeted: \u201cSuch a warm, funny and talented man. A giant of British comedy. Thanks for all the laughs, Barry.\u201d<\/p>\n
