Have you been watching the new Channel 5 series The Teacher<\/a>?<\/p>\n

Sheridan Smith stars as English teacher Jenna Garvey who is accused of a sexual encounter with one of her pupils, prompting her life to swiftly fall apart.<\/p>\n

The series, which has been airing over four consecutive nights, makes for \u201cincredibly uncomfortable viewing<\/a>\u201d according to Smith, as Jenna tries to prove that she didn\u2019t sleep with 15-year-old Kyle<\/a> (Samuel Bottomley) on a night she has no memory of due to habit of binge drinking.<\/p>\n

Is Jenna guilty of what she has been accused of? And, if not, will she be able to prove her innocence?<\/p>\n

One aspect of the series that issue to draw the eye of viewers is the series\u2019 location.<\/p>\n

Surprisingly, while The Teacher is set in Bradford, the series was actually filmed in a location that\u2019s likely to surprise viewers \u2013 outside of the UK.<\/p>\n

While the show<\/a> is set in Bradford \u2013 a city in Yorkshire \u2013 it was actually filmed in Hungary<\/strong> over six weeks.<\/p>\n

Executive producer Mike Benson told Wales Online<\/a> that he chose Budapest, the capital of Hungary, for budgetary reasons.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had to film in Budapest for funding reasons, and the team has done a fantastic job making it look like Bradford,\u201d he revealed.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was challenging and at times felt like a pressure cooker given the COVID restrictions limited how much cast and crew could socialise and relax together.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were points when I didn\u2019t think we would get through it, but fortunately we had a really professional team and a really good COVID officer, and we managed it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sheridan Smith herself said about filming that after lockdown all the actors \u201cfound the flight quite nerve-racking\u201d.<\/p>\n

She explained: \u201cIt had been two years since we had taken a plane anywhere. But once we got to Budapest all the anxiety went away, and it was a lovely job.\u201d<\/p>\n
