RadioTimes.com<\/a> can exclusively reveal a first-look clip from tomorrow\u2019s finale that sees Jenna question Gabriel (Harry Hepple), the deputy head of the school both she and Cleary taught at.<\/p>\nThe clip sees Jenna approach Gabriel at the gym to ask if he can remember Cleary, to which he replies that he can, before adding a major revelation: Cleary had previously slept with a pupil and ran off to Scotland with her.<\/p>
\u201cCleary went to prison for it,\u201d he said. \u201cGod, I remember \u2013 we came back after the summer holiday and Cleary had gone. No explanation but obviously we all knew and talked about nothing else.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jenna appears to be in disbelief at this news and says she had no idea it had happened, before Gabriel questions her as to why she\u2019s asking about Cleary.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhy are you looking for him?\u201d he says. \u201cReaching out to teachers who\u2019ve been through the same sort of thing?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNo, I\u2019m not like him,\u201d she answers. \u201cLook, nothing happened, the boy lied \u2013 but it was enough to set this all off, and now\u2026 I had no reason to ruin my life.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jenna then presses Gabriel for more information about Cleary, but instead, he simply tells her: \u201cYou know I teach a lot of girls, some of them are very mature \u2013 but I never cross that line.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not their friend,\u201d he adds. They might think I\u2019m unlikeable, strict. But the boundary is clear. Teacher, pupil.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jenna soon counters: \u201cYeah, well I like to connect with my pupils, invest in them. I like them to feel good about themselves, that\u2019s\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
But Gabriel cuts in and says: \u201cA good teacher \u2013 a responsible adult \u2013 keeps a respectful distance. Doesn\u2019t need to be liked.\u201d<\/p>\n
