The BAFTA Film Awards\u00a02022 will soon be upon us!<\/p>\n

Dune has emerged with 11 BAFTA Film Awards nominations<\/a>, while Jane Campion\u2019s The Power of the Dog received eight and Kenneth Branagh\u2019s Belfast six.<\/p>\n

A Quiet Place\u2019s Millicent Simmonds and No Time to Die star Lashana Lynch lead the young actors nominated for BAFTA\u2019s Rising Star Award.<\/p>\n

Fans might be surprised to hear that Sony and Marvel\u2019s film Spider-Man: No Way Home<\/a>\u00a0was not in the running for any BAFTAs, despite its huge success<\/a>. The film had originally been submitted for the Best Film and Special Visual Effects categories, but \u201cfailed to meet eligibility criteria\u201d, according to BAFTA.<\/p>\n

A third round of voting will open between 9th February and 8th March, with the winners then announced during a live ceremony on 13th March in <\/b>London\u2019s Royal Albert Hall.<\/b><\/p>\n

When are the BAFTA Film Awards 2022?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The BAFTA Film Awards 2022 are set to take place in London\u2019s Royal Albert Hall on 13th March 2022.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The BAFTA Film Awards 2022 will air live on BBC One in the UK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Viewers with a TV licence<\/a> can also watch the BAFTA Film Awards 2022 through BBC iPlayer, which can be used to watch BBC One live.<\/p>\n

Rebel Wilson<\/a>, the comedian and actress best known for Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect, is set to helm the 75th BAFTA Film Awards.<\/p>\n

Amanda Berry, BAFTA\u2019s chief executive, said: \u201cRebel has stolen the show at several previous film awards, and we\u2019re hugely excited to see her bring her fantastic charisma and humour to the whole show.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wilson said in a statement: \u201cIt\u2019s going to be so much fun! I don\u2019t wanna put any pressure on this \u2013 I know I\u2019m not going to be funny because I am no longer fat. And besides, I\u2019m not going to \u2018sweat-it\u2019 with nerves because I have a peculiar medical condition where I can\u2019t sweat\u2026 or cause offence to people because of my adorable Australian accent.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cSo basically, I\u2019ll just be there to hang out with Dame Judi Dench and together we\u2019ll both try and bond with Daniel Craig. And yes, I do mean \u2018bond\u2019. This show will be an anniversary celebration of some important British film franchises such as Harry Potter and not such as Cats. Everybody\u2019s going to love it, I\u2019m sure!\u201d<\/p>\n

The red carpet coverage of the event will be hosted by AJ Odudu and Tom Allen.<\/p>\n

James Bond actress Lashana Lynch<\/a> and West Side Story\u2019s Ariana DeBose<\/a> are among the young performers nominated for BAFTA\u2019s Rising Star Award.<\/p>\n

DeBose told Sky News<\/a> that she was \u201cshocked\u201d by her nomination.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m American, this doesn\u2019t make any sense\u2026 I was like, \u2018there\u2019s absolutely no reason really for me to be here, except you guys asked me to be\u2019, and that means the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so honoured to have the work recognised, and specifically, with this type of award, when that\u2019s voted on by the British public, that\u2019s really special,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Deaf actress Millicent Simmonds, who is only 18 years old, has also made the crop after starring in the horror film A Quiet Place and its 2021 sequel as Regan Abbott.<\/p>\n

Harris Dickinson<\/a> (The King\u2019s Man, Maleficent) has also bagged a nomination alongside Australian actor Kodi Smit-McPhee (The Power of the Dog).<\/p>\n

Smit-McPhee told Sky News he felt \u201csheer joy and excitement and shock\u201d when he learned he\u2019d bagged a nomination, saying he couldn\u2019t put \u201cit into words\u201d.<\/p>\n

Previous winners have included Bukky Bakray (Rocks), Tom Holland<\/a> (Spider-Man), Kristen Stewart (Twilight) and John Boyega (Star Wars).<\/p>\n
