Action-packed TV drama Outlander has placed many obstacles in the way of Brianna Fraser (Sophie Skelton) and Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin).<\/p>\n

The young couple first met in 1960s Scotland, when Brianna learned the shocking truth from her mother Claire (Caitriona Balfe) that her biological father was actually an 18th^{\u00a0<\/sup>century Highlander named Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan).<\/p>\n}

After travelling back into the past, where they enjoyed a romantic engagement, locked horns and experienced a series of tragic misunderstandings, Roger and Brianna were separated again when Roger was assaulted and sold to the Mohawk by Jamie and Brianna\u2019s cousin Ian (John Bell), while a pregnant Brianna waited in vain for his return.<\/p>\n

Even once the pair were happily married and raising their son Jemmy, there remained a frostiness between Roger and his new father-in-law Jamie \u2013 the former resentful that Jamie had attacked him, the latter unsure that he was good enough for Brianna.<\/p>\n

But their relationship gradually unthawed in season 5 and in the final episode, we saw Roger and Brianna attempt to travel \u201chome\u201d through the stones, only to wind up back on the Ridge with Jamie and Claire.<\/p>

Instead, a new issue for Roger and Bree to contend with is his relationship with a young widow Amy McCallum (Joanne Thomson)\u00a0and her children, who have also come to settle on the Ridge.<\/p>\n
In Diana Gabaldon\u2019s sixth novel, A Breath of Snow and Ashes, Roger spends a lot of time helping the struggling McCallums \u2013 but that leads to rumours that there is an illicit relationship between him and Amy.<\/p>\n
Rankin joked about Roger\u2019s maddening naivety when it comes to Amy and how her presence will impact his marriage: \u201cI don\u2019t see what\u2019s wrong with meandering off to the neighbouring single woman\u2019s house for the afternoon and evening, eating there, potentially then Roger goes back home and Brianna says, \u2018I\u2019ve made dinner or do you want dinner or shall we get a takeaway?\u2019 and Roger says, \u2018Oh actually, you know what, I\u2019ve already eaten at this woman\u2019s house down the street. Don\u2019t worry though! She\u2019s a widow. It\u2019s fine. I\u2019m going to go back there in the morning if it\u2019s OK to fix her chimney?’\u201d<\/p>\n
Skelton chimed in: \u201c\u2018I haven\u2019t bathed Jemmy tonight but I\u2019ve bathed her kids, so it\u2019s all good.’\u201d<\/p>\n
Rankin continued: \u201c\u2018Yeah, I\u2019ve been looking after them fabulously and reading them bedtime stories.\u2019 I can\u2019t see why Brianna gets annoyed with him to be honest!\u201d<\/p>\n
And since season 6 of Outlander will also see Brianna using her engineering skills to make matches? \u201cDon\u2019t mess with Bree \u2013 she\u2019s got white phosphorus!\u201d laughed Skelton.<\/p>\n
Rankin agreed: \u201cShe will literally blow you up.\u201d<\/p>\n
