Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren lead the cast of the new film The Duke, which tells the story of an elderly man who becomes involved in the unlikely theft of a valuable Goya portrait from London\u2019s National Gallery in the early 1960s.<\/p>\n
The film is in fact based on a true story \u2013 with the grandson of Broadbent\u2019s character Kempton Bunton having originally pitched the idea to film studios a few years ago.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, it is also notable for being the last film from Notting Hill director Roger Michell, who sadly passed away in 2021 at the age of 65.<\/p>\n
The Duke is currently showing in cinemas, but below we\u2019ve got all the latest information on when you\u2019ll be able to watch it from the comfort of your own home \u2013 read on for everything you need to know.<\/p>\n
Sadly those hoping to watch the film online aren\u2019t in luck just yet \u2013 for the time being, the film is showing exclusively in cinemas. But luckily that means there\u2019s plenty of opportunities to watch the film on the big screen, with it having been given a wide release throughout the country.<\/p>\n
There is currently no indication that the film will end up on Netflix eventually \u2013 although it\u2019s certainly not impossible. It seems more likely, however, that the film will be added to Sky Movies and NOW first, due to the deal in place between Sky and WarnerMedia.<\/p>\n

Like most film releases, The Duke will eventually be available for rent and purchase on a number of Premium Video On Demand services \u2013 including Amazon and iTunes.<\/p>\n
An official digital release date hasn\u2019t been announced at this stage, but it\u2019s customary for films to be made available digitally between two and three months after their cinema debuts.<\/p>\n
With this in mind, a date of April or May 2022<\/strong> seems probable \u2013 but we\u2019ll of course amend this should more concrete information be made available.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, it seems likely that audiences across the Atlantic might be able to watch it sooner \u2013 given that most Warner Bros films in the US have been released simultaneously on HBO Max and in cinemas in recent months.<\/p>\n However, the film has not yet been released in the US just yet, with a date of Friday 25th March currently scheduled.<\/p>\n There\u2019s no information on a release date for physical copies of the film just yet, but we\u2019d imagine it would be roughly the same time as the digital release.<\/p>\n The Duke tells the story of Kempton Bunton, an elderly Newcastle resident who became embroiled in an impressive heist in 1961.
