On locking eyes with Maggie, Selwyn\u2019s typically calm and collected demeanour fell away as he scurried hurriedly away to avoid conversation.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe doesn\u2019t know what to thin<\/span>k,\u201d Don Warrington, who plays Selwyn, told RadioTimes.com.<\/a> \u201cIt\u2019s the last person he expected to see. It\u2019s absolute shock. He just doesn\u2019t know what to thin<\/span>k.\u201d<\/p>\n Following their frosty reunion, the pair have dinner together, which helps thaw the ice between them. They then go on to enjoy a drink on the beach, where they share a kiss before spending the night with one another.<\/p> \u00a0<\/p>\n Warrington went on to explain that while the pair did love one another, their personal aspirations sounded the death knell for their relationship.<\/p>\n \u201cThey came to a poin<\/span>t in<\/span> their marriage where decisions had to be made,\u201d he said. \u201cI thin<\/span>k he wanted to come back home and she wanted to stay in<\/span> Europe and fulfil her ambition. They were both ambitious and I thin<\/span>k that played in<\/span>to it more.<\/p>\n \u201cThey weren\u2019t content to just let life happen. They wanted to take charge of what happened to them. So that, I thin<\/span>k, led to the split. And I thin<\/span>k they were both pretty heartbroken about it.\u201d<\/p>\n But Maggie\u2019s arrival wasn\u2019t the only surprise in store for Selwyn. She also revealed that her daughter, who is now an adult, was also his child.<\/p>\n \u201cHe is numb [when he finds out] and he\u2019s busy trying to process it, busy trying to make it make some kind of sense,\u201d said Warrington. \u201cWhy did she not tell him? Why would you keep it secret for all these years? What is he supposed to do now?<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s got an adult daughter. All her childhood has gone from him. How are they to mend this? Are they going to mend it? It\u2019s pretty devastating. It\u2019s an extraordin<\/span>ary piece of in<\/span>formation to be given.\u201d<\/p>\n He added: \u201cI thin<\/span>k a lot of people are goin<\/span>g to be shocked because Selwyn is a pretty closed character. There\u2019s an air of mystery about him because that\u2019s how he wants it, and this will shock a lot of his fans, to learn somethin<\/span>g of his history.\u201d<\/p>\n As for how this will impact Selwyn in season 12 and beyond<\/a>, Warrington said: \u201cHe\u2019s a new character because every bit of in<\/span>formation builds on the person who you thin<\/span>k you know. I don\u2019t think it\u2019s somethin<\/span>g that will be left. I thin<\/span>k some kin<\/span>d of rationale has to be worked out about it.
