Ritchie will be playing Cathy\u2019s niece Bonnie, who helps Cathy following her split with Geordie at the end of season 6. Bonnie has been widowed and has a little boy, and it sounds like she\u2019ll help show Cathy the ropes when it comes to solo parenting.<\/p>\n
Cathy actress Kacey Ainsworth said \u201cwe were really excited to get this amazing actress coming in\u201d and that \u201cit\u2019s lovely to expand the family base\u201d.<\/p>\n
Robson Green meanwhile, who plays Cathy\u2019s husband Geordie, called Ritchie \u201cA-list\u201d and a \u201cbig hitter\u201d, and said \u201cshe has that lovely ability not only to play serious issues but she can bring levity to them as well\u201d.<\/p>\n
This comes after Green teased that Tom Brittney\u2019s character, Reverend Will Davenport, would be seeking relationship advice from Geordie<\/a>, and it seems we may have found a potential love interest.<\/p>\n Green said Ritchie \u201cbrings a really likeable aspect to the arc that Tom is pursuing in terms of true love\u201d, suggesting that romance may well be on the cards for Will and Bonnie.<\/p>\n As for Brittney himself, he said that from day one \u201cit felt like Charlotte had been there for years\u201d, while Tessa Peake-Jones who plays Mrs Chapman called her \u201ca gorgeous young woman\u201d and said: \u201cGhosts is my favourite programme on television at the moment so I was already a huge fan of hers.\u201d<\/p>\n So it seems Ritchie\u2019s fit right in with the rest of the village.<\/p> Season 7 of Grantchester, which is adapted from the\u00a0Grantchester Mysteries novels<\/a>\u00a0by James Runcie, has also seen a newcomer behind the cameras this season, although they come from a little closer to home \u2013 Tom Brittney<\/a> will be directing one of the episodes.<\/p>\n If you want more information on\u00a0where Grantchester is filmed<\/a>, find out here with our location guide.<\/p>\n Grantchester will return to ITV on Friday 11th March at 9pm.
