<\/p>
Louis Theroux has weighed in on the tensions between the \u2018new\u2019 and \u2018old\u2019 worlds of porn following the MeToo movement, as explored in an episode of his new docuseries Forbidden America<\/a>.<\/p>\n Asked whether \u2018old-world porn\u2019 and \u2018new-world porn\u2019 are currently at war with each other, Theroux said that \u201cthere is some truth to that\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cObviously, that\u2019s a simplification, but there is some truth to that, I would say,\u201d he explained. \u201cThere\u2019s a more progressive community that\u2019s a little more orientated around performers, and especially female performers.\u201d<\/p>\n Speaking to press including RadioTimes.com<\/a>, Theroux explained that younger people working in the porn industry \u201ctake a more serious view of indiscretions\u201d, while older members reject the idea of \u201ccancel culture\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s been noted in all kinds of spheres of life that the younger people who work in a company might take a more serious view of indiscretions or behaviours, [but] an older crowd might say, \u2018Well, that\u2019s just what happens,\u2019 or \u2018Let\u2019s not be part of cancel culture,’\u201d he said. \u201cThat debate, which is dividing all different spheres of life, all aspects of culture, is also present in porn.\u201d<\/p>\n However, he stressed that while there\u2019s \u201ca real temptation to say, \u2018Well, because it\u2019s porn, there must be more predators here’\u201d, it\u2019s \u201cplausible\u201d that there are the same number of alleged sexual predators operating in other industries.<\/p> \u201cYou know, there\u2019s a real temptation to say,\u00a0\u2018Well, because it\u2019s porn, there must be more predators here.\u2019 Or at least that\u2019s a calculus I could imagine people making,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd again, and again, what I heard was, \u2018No, no, really, it\u2019s just the same as everywhere else. It\u2019s just that we\u2019ve had trouble getting heard \u2013 number one, and number two, our workplace routinely involves extreme setbacks.
