<\/p>
Jon Richardson has revealed that he was \u201cterrified\u201d ahead of filming an episode of Meet the Richardsons featuring a cameo from Line of Duty<\/a> creator Jed Mercurio.<\/p>\n The stand-up comic stars in the Dave mockumentary with his wife, fellow comedian Lucy Beaumont, with Meet the Richardsons following the pair as they play exaggerated versions of themselves.<\/p>\n Speaking to\u00a0RadioTimes.com<\/a> in an exclusive interview, Richardson opened up about an upcoming episode featuring Bodyguard\u2019s Jed Mercurio, who plays a caricature of himself.<\/p>\n \u201cHe was brilliant. I can only speak for myself \u2013 I was terrified,\u201d Richardson said. \u201cI think we do a lot with comics and I\u2019m so used to being in the company of comics. I know they\u2019re going to know that I am not an actor, so I can\u2019t act and I don\u2019t learn scripts and I will just turn up and say what I think is funny and they\u2019ll react.\u201d<\/p> \u00a0<\/p>\n But Richardson said it was different with Mercurio.<\/p>\n He explained: \u201cWhen you\u2019re working with someone who has tightly scripted the most intricate show on British television, I thought, \u2018I better know what I\u2019m doing going into these scenes. I thought, you know, these are probably going to be quite straightforward and I\u2019m going to have to hit every mark and know every line\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n As it turns out, Mercurio was not what he was expecting.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd actually he turned up and he couldn\u2019t have been more willing to send himself up and play about and that felt like a real sort of pat on the back for us,\u201d Richardson continued.\u00a0\u201cHe trusted us enough to say, \u2018I\u2019ll do what you tell me to.\u2019 He\u2019s obviously not playing himself, he\u2019s playing a sort of pompous version of himself for comedy and that he trusted us enough to do that was incredible.\u201d<\/p>\n Meet the Richardsons returns on Thursday 3rd March at 9pm on Dave.
