<\/p>
Killing Eve star Sandra Oh has explained why one scene in new animated Pixar feature\u00a0Turning Red<\/a> left her feeling \u201cvery, very moved\u201d.<\/p>\n In an exclusive interview with RadioTimes.com<\/a>, Oh \u2013 who plays the mother of main character Mei Lee in the film \u2013 explained that the moments that stood out most to her were those that explored the Chinese Canadian heritage of the central characters, something which she felt director Domee Shi handled particularly well.<\/p>\n \u201cI think Domee approaches it in such a good way,\u201d she explained. \u201cBecause it has to do with how culture is not static, traditions have to change.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s important to know your history, but that\u2019s\u2026 one of my favourite scenes actually is an image of Mei as a panda trying to leave the temple and all her parents and all her aunties trying to keep her in.<\/p>\n \u201cI was very, very moved by that. You know, as a child of immigrants, you are constantly having this kind of pull between love and filial duty, and then your own independence. But that\u2019s what it is \u2013 one to become an independent adult, but two, that\u2019s how you actually move and you change culture.\u201d<\/p> Oh stars alongside relative newcomer Rosalie Chiang in the film, while the Turning Red cast<\/a> also includes Ava Morse, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Hyein Park, and Orion Lee.<\/p>\n Speaking recently to RadioTimes.com<\/strong>, Chiang praised Pixar\u2019s ability to craft compelling stories that don\u2019t feature out-and-out villains<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI think it\u2019s important to always empathise with the other person, the other side,\u201d she said. \u201cAnd I think Pixar has this incredible talent at telling stories without villains.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s no villain in the story.
